DC Design started out designing molds on the board over 20 years ago! We have evolved over the years to now using the boards only for laying out CAD plots! These plots range from simple single cavity cold runner aluminum prototype molds to fully hardened, dicronited, hot runner multi-cavity molds, or anything in between.

DC Design is your mold design source - We design production tooling for your plastic part, have the steel mold built, & ship your mold(s) to you, or have it run at one of our associates plants. All these stages can involve your input, allowing your control with our expertise to give you the best, mold design possible!

All of our CAD software:
(Computer Aided Design) of your mold design is fully translatable. These files are available for your records and files.
Printed out copies are delivered to you as well.

Plastic production info:
Molten plastic is injected into steel at pressures of 20 to 30,000 p.s.i.
apposing hydraulic tonnage is generated to hold the steel mould together at these forces.
The molten hot plastic will 'flash' (seep out between steel plates) at about .001" inch
Steel moulds are manufactured to tolerances of .0002" inch to eliminate 'flash' (see above)

.0035" = human hair
.0010" = dust particle / plastic 'flash'
.0005" = fingerprint depth
.0002" = industrial smoke particle size / steel mould production
.0001" = tobacco smoke
